What You Can Do with an IRS Online Account
An IRS account allows you to conveniently manage your taxes from your computer. Here are some of the things you can do with your online account:
- View data from your most recently filed tax return – helpful if you need to reference information for business purposes or if you simply want to check that everything was filed correctly.
- View digital copies of notices that the IRS has sent to you in the past year – a convenient way to keep track of any correspondence from the IRS so that you can follow up as needed.
- Pay your taxes online directly from your account balance without having to write a check or send a money order through the mail.
- View 5 years of payment history, including any estimated tax payments that you have made – a great way to keep track of your tax payments so that you know when they are due each year.
- View the amount that you owe in taxes at any given time so that you can plan accordingly for making payments or arranging payment plans with the IRS.
- Make payments directly from your computer.
- Sign up for direct deposit so that you never have to worry about lost or stolen checks.
- Manage all your accounts in one place without having to dig through paper records or scan documents into digital files.
- Set up automatic payment plans for estimated taxes or other payments owed to the IRS.
