We understand how difficult new technology can be. It is our goal at DSB Rock Island to get you comfortable with SafeSend so that you can see how convenient using it will be. The videos above are short walk-throughs of both SafeSend Gather – where you can upload your organizer documents, and SafeSend Returns – where you will review your tax return and sign for filing. Please watch them at your leisure. We have also gathered a list of frequently asked questions that we feel may help you get comfortable.
What are the benefits to you, the client?
- In Returns you can electronically view, sign, save and print your tax documents. This saves the wait time of snail mail.
- You will have access to your tax return for seven years.
- You will be able to receive estimated tax payment reminders at a schedule of your choosing.
- You can securely forward your tax documents to anyone you choose, such as a bank.
Will it work with any internet browser?
For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome. It will also work with Safari, Firefox. SafeSend does not work well with Internet Explorer.
Can I use my phone or tablet?
We recommend using a laptop or desktop for uploading your organizer attachments, as these devices tend to offer a smoother and more efficient experience. While some tasks can be completed on a phone or tablet, we’ve found that most clients find it easier and more reliable to use a computer for this process.
How will I securely access the software?
SafeSend Gather and SafeSend Returns have different requirements. For Gather, you will need to request a code which will be send to your email from noreply@safesendreturns.com. SafeSend Return requires you to enter the last four digits of your social security number and then will send you the access code.
What if I can’t remember the Access Code or it expires?
You can click on any link in any e-mail from SafeSend Returns and you will be re-sent the link for a new Access Code by noreply@safesendreturns.com. It doesn’t matter how old the e-mail is.
Will I be able to review the tax return before signing it?
Yes. You will be able to view any portion of your tax return prior to signing.
How do I confirm my identity to be able to sign my tax return?
You will be required to answer knowledge-based authentication questions before being allowed to sign. This is an IRS requirement.
What if I have a co-taxpayer? How will they sign?
One taxpayer at a time will go through the signing process. After the first taxpayer signs, the 2nd will receive an e-mail from SafeSend to go through the steps to sign the return.
Will I get reminders about signing the return?
Yes. A reminder email is sent approximately every seven days and possibly more often as the deadline approaches.
Do I have to finish the review and signing process in one sitting?
No. You can put your return aside and come back to it at any time. Simply click Save and Close in the lower right hand corner of the web page.
Will I get email reminders about estimated payments?
During the process, you will be given the opportunity to set a reminder schedule for estimated payments. Choose the timing that works best for you.
Will I have the option to download and print my return?
Yes, you will have the opportunity to do so after you’ve signed your returns. You will always be able to download and print your returns at any time.
Can I forward my tax return to my bank?
Yes, during the review and signing process in SafeSend Returns, there is a spot for you to forward the return to whomever you chose. The recipient will need to verify their identity when they receive the email.

Is my information secure?
Client data is encrypted by SafeSend. Data access is restricted to authorized accounts.
Is there a SafeSend App?
There is no SafeSend app yet.
